I thought about adding rust, but didn't want to ruin my work! Overall this guy took me a lot more work than I usually put into a mini.ДЄs usual, I'll add this to my master MD mini list HERE.The visual and sonic twists in the videos are not editing tricks - the musicians just have the chops to pull them off. For me, probably my best result from NMM iron. Then another mini needed NMM and I went back to work on it some more. Still didn't look good and I put him on hold another 2 weeks. I eventually did a quick blend and several layers just to get something done. I can fake a small NMM dagger or sword, but these are the focus point of the mini and I was afraid to fail. I then went with NMM gold for several areas. I eventually started in with a base layer of Rhinox Hide brown, then added Tau Light Ochre in several stages. I really wanted to do NMM on this mini, but got a little stymied when it came to the bronzy looking areas.

This guy took me about 2 months (off and on.) I started the skin when I was going a bunch of Conan minis but then dropped off when it came time to do the metallics. A lot of work and many eyes to do this on!ДЄs usual I'll add this to my master MD mini list HERE.

Then I went in and did my slits with pure black. Then I did a wash over the whole eye with yellow. Then I went back over the center areas with some more layers of yellow. I then did a wash over the whole thing with Carroberg Crimson, but wiped the wash off the high points. I specifically left this streaky and did a couple of layers to make this looks more interesting. Then I moved into more orange colors (Wild Rider Red, then Firedragon Bright, then a couple of yellows-moving the lighter colors to the center of the eye. Then I stalled out since I didn't know what to do about the eyes.ДЇor the eyes, I started with a Citaden Mephiston Red base layer matching the surrounding fleshy bits. I went back over this with some highlights. Once dry I went back over it with some washes of green and red to get some depth and tie the wet blends together. I started with a mega wet blend of greens and even a dark red, including a sky blue for the tentacle tips. I did my best and had to use some green stuff to fill some big cracks. I painted up the minis and the eggs/shells and there you go! I did just find out I won first place in the contest, so I'm happy!ДЇirst off: this mini had pretty terrible mold lines. I ended up doing a water effect between the mounds with Woodland Scenic's Realistic Water in 3 layers. I then thickly laid on Vallejo earth paste in two mounds and stuck everything in place, letting dry over 24 hours. Then I also stole some tiny shells from her stash as well. Wait, how about some unhatched eggs? I raided my wife's jewelry making supplies for some cool beads that were faceted and roughly oval shaped.

Next I decided that the dragon hatchling needed a broken shell, so I saved out some egg shell from hard-boiled egg and cracked it into some bits. Since the treasure has little starfish and shells in and around it, I decided a beach scene might work. I got a larger base (leftover from another game) and looked at what I could do. These two minis really didn't have much to do together and came on separate small bases.
